The Soccer Team CompetitionThe Central College Soccer Team plays friendly matches and training until April each year. The competition starts in April, with a league of 10 teams from various Sydney-based Colleges. In the season we have 18 games and a cup competition in September. The matches are played on grass over 90 minutes. Kick off is at 3pm. You will need to bring your own football boots, shinguards and socks. The college has shorts and shirts. Also water and sunblock is essential. The tournament is called the ELSA League (ELSA=English Language School Association). It has been running for about 7 years, at the moment it has 10 teams from all round Sydney. Other teams involved are Aspect, SELC, Milton, ELC, Institute, ACE, Taylor's, APC and St Marks. There are 2 competitions:
Past SuccessOur team has been quite successful - we have won the cup once and the league twice Last year we reached the cup final and came 3rd in the league. Joining the TeamStudents must come and find the football teacher in the staff room at first so that he can arrange to meet them and take them to the pitches initially until the student knows how to get there. Players must have proper boots and socks and shinguards - it is a physical game. This is REAL football; be aware it is a physical sport, and you may get injured. You play at your own risk.
